MINDFUL ATHLETE PERFORMANCE

“We are what we repeatedly do. Excellence, then, is not an act, but a habit.”

- Aristotle

“The mind is everything. What you think, you become.”

- Buddha

Think about who and what you want to be:

  • How do you need to think to be that person?

  • How do you need to act to be that person?

  • What things do you need to do to be that person?

Therefore, think, do, and act daily like the person you want to be and you will become that person. But remember, no matter what, you will become the person reflective of what you repeatedly think, do and act. So choose wisely.

The following are options we believe in and suggest as part of your work with TBP.

Competitive athletes train their bodies for hours and hours a day, for weeks, months, and years on end, all in the pursuit of greatness. Often however, they leave out the most important muscle of the body – THEIR MIND!  Mental training is the area where top athletes separate themselves from everyone else. Creating and maintaining the proper mindset makes all the difference and is just as important as everything else you do to prepare your body. Learning to maintain your breath, and focus your mind, gives you control over the most important part of your game – YOURSELF! With breath and focus you can control your thoughts and emotions, which are keys in performing at the top of your game in those critical moments when great players rise to the top. This is what separates the Mindful Athlete from all the rest.

"After 3 years playing in the NFL I have learned that 90% of success on the field is mastering the mental aspect of the game. The ability to focus my mind, stay calm, and maintain my breath, in difficult and stressful times, has made all the difference for me. My mental game has given me the tools to rise up to do what needs to be done, when it needs to be done, no matter what the situation. TBP has helped me work with my mental focus and breath work so I have the proper mental framework in my training, practices, and in games when it really counts. Learning to focus my mind, stay calm, and control my breath, has increased my confidence and belief in myself, and helped me perform at the highest level.

This is the piece of your training you know you've been missing. The yoga, meditation, mental prep, and breath work, all work together to give you that edge you’ve been looking for.”  George Kittle – San Francisco 49ers

Our Mindful Athlete practice uses a holistic and client centered approach that involves a step-by-step process focusing on your needs, the issues you are facing, and what you want to prioritize. The core steps of our process are listed below, which all start with an in-depth intake process.

REQUIRED

In order for this process to work you must be willing to be honest with yourself about your performance, your thought process and current mental framework, and any of the things in your life that may be holding you back. You will need to be willing to dig deep, look hard, and then address potentially long held beliefs and thoughts. You must be fully committed to the process, to following your plan, and doing the work necessary to reach the outcomes you desire.

OUR PROCESS

I. INTAKE

Intake will review your current situation to identify:

  1. Your current level of play and what’s working well

  2. How you may not be performing or showing up in your game

  3. What obstacles may be holding you back

  4. Defining your vision on how you ultimately want to perform

II. DESIGN A PLAN

Together we will design a plan to address obstacles and move you towards realizing your vision. Each plan is uniquely designed to meet your specific needs. Components of your plan may include:

  • Meditation, & Breath Work

  • Motivation & Purpose

  • Affirmations

  • Variable Identities

  • Visualization

  • Channeling

  • Skills Review

  • The Life Wheel

  • Routines Assessment

  • Counseling

III. IMPLEMENTATION, REVIEW & RESET

Once a plan is in place TBP continues to work with you with regular 1v1 sessions with your Mindful Athlete Coach (Bruce Kittle). Together you will work through implementation of your plan and make any adjustments that may be needed. We will monitor your practice and any issues you might be facing. We are always available and will continue to work with you and modify or add to your plan as needed. It is an ongoing process and we will be with you each step of the way.

IV. DON'T WAIT

If you are not performing at the level you want, or maybe just know deep down that there is more you can do, drop us a note and request our Mindful Athlete application form. No obligation and first consultation is free.
